On today’s post, we continue on our quest to find the best chicken sandwich. The following restaurants are popular national fast food chains. Is my writing starting to sound sterile? Lol, it’s been a rough week.
First up,
KFC’s Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich 7.5/10
Meat to bread ratio was decent, the spice level was mild. Overall, the chicken was good, but the sandwich was fairly small. I wasn’t unimpressed, but if we’re keeping Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich as the bar, then this sandwich missed the mark.
Chick-Fil-A 7/10
I opted for a spicy chicken sandwich rather than the deluxe sandwich. I probably should have added some kind of cheese or condiments, but I didn’t realize how utterly plain it would be. On that note, having it so plain did highlight the chicken. The chicken patty was delicious with a great texture, but still not on par with Popeye’s.
Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich 6/10
Meh.
I don’t get the hype around this sandwich. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good sandwich and I would certainly eat it again, but would I crave it? Probably not. The condiments definitely lent a cooling effect to contrast the chicken, and the bun wasn’t too thick. Overall, it was simply “okay”.
Side note: Wendy’s fries are trash. I dare you to change my mind.
McDonald’s Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich 5/10
If you know me, you know that I LOVE McDonald’s. I truly truly love them; their fries, coke, apple pies, chicken nuggets, burgers, chicken tenders, breakfast….what’s not to love? Answer: this chicken sandwich. Now, I have heard tremendously good things about their non spicy chicken sandwich, but this was mediocre.
The patty was surprisingly large and extended past the bun (usually a good sign), but that sauce was not something I would ever want again. My husband and I could both taste a berry flavored after-taste with the sauce; it doesn’t make sense, but it was not an appealing flavor.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll post more as I continue this journey!
